It's absolutely normal that it's a girl cosplaying a guy. Expecially outside Japan, most cosplayers are female. Since you cosplay characters you like, you dont care for gender.

Well, the mask is okay. You can't use any material u like to make one cause of strict safety restrictions on most conventions. Also, cosplay can be quite expensive. You have to think of ways to safe up money.
