IV was great for it's time, but to argue that it was superior to later FF's is nostalgia fueled crap.

Not to knock it or anything, but several FF's that came after it were far more complex in story and characters then what IV did.

Again, not putting it down, but I'm getting tired of FFIV and FFVI fans talking about all of the games that came after them as crap.

IX was the last good Final Fantasy. Every one after that was a shitty CG movie that let you lend a hand for some of the action scenes. Get over it.

Also, I like V the best because Job System.

I always love the insinuation that classic FF games weren't linear or cutscene heavy or that barebones ATB with no itemization or subsystems was inspiring gameplay.

The only thing pre-VI FF had going for it was Amano and Uematsu. The actual game design was a mediocre Dragon Quest clone, people who worked on the games have even said that.

Okay, maybe the older FFs were a bit barebones, but they were still good games, and anyone who is unfamiliar with them (such as anon1), is an uncultured plebian.
