Well really, it could explain some things. Women who have lacked a solid father figure tend to be with numerous men, so a man who lacked a solid mother figure may well find himself with numerous women.

You said it. Makoto's mother is a nurse and always at work, so he seldomly spend time with mother for many years. No wonder he wants "mother-like" , namely beautiful, busty, quiet girls so badly.
