a skull kid exists because of one of them gets lost in the forset. if saria got lost and died then she would turn into a skull kid.
where ever she was in the game that had her last means that was the last time we would see her. she is dead and in the lost forest.

Kokiri cannot become Skull Children due to both their fairy companion and the protection provided to them by the Deku Tree. If a non-Kokiri child gets lost in the Lost Woods, they turn into a Skull Child. And any adult that gets lost, they turn into a Stalfos.
