That's not Peach in the middle that's Rosalina, note the star earrings. This is what happens when a company gets lazy and makes a new character look practically like their old one.

And Rosalina basically IS Peach design-wise since she looks just like her, so how can she be better when they look alike besides from a slight difference in hair style.

@Daijin: Anon1 said that he'd rather have Peach in the middle. Also, Rosalina is considered 'heavier' than Peach, as evident in Mario Kart Wii, where Peach is medium weight class and Rosalina is heavy weight class.

Plus Rosalina has a somewhat deeper, more seductive-sounding voice. Also, her dress is way more simple. You wanna see 'basically the same design-wise,' check out Daisy. A brunette version of Peach, with a yellow dress.
