If memory serves, it is stated in the Complete Works booklet that Omega was supposed to look like the X-series Zero, but that they could not fit that design with their sprites.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Last I heard, the only thing different about Zero in the Zero series was his artwork/rendition, as in he's still exactly the same as he was a century earlier when it comes to design and specs and whatnot, just a different and slimmer depiction to fit in with the chosen artists usual style.

It was stated the only difference is art style, yes. So MMZ-Zero isn't meant to be new armour, it's just a change of style, that's all. I guess that means what he really looks like is up to your preference.

Personally I think this hybrid of the two looks ****ing amazing and if I was working at Capcom I would print it out and just go to town with the 'CANON' stamp. But that's just me.
