Her size really isn't necessary. She's bigger than a car and yet she's not a fighter. Arlong is smaller than her and yet he's able to lift a house. The only thing that her size was good for was being able to withstand an attack that's able to blast through buildings. Let's be real, if she was average size she would have died. And she didn't live just because of the plot armor!
