Kushina was already dead before the series started. She just appeared in flashbacks and as a ghost thing in Naruto's seal. That actually spurs more fanart Anon 2.

Does it matter Anon1 or 2? There have been fan-arts of different characters who later on die in different series, they live on even after death.
