I have to admit he's actually one of my favorites. It was nice to see a villain with a motivation that went beyond wanting to destroy or take over the world.

Plus a great voice actor. And some of my favorite hero/villain dialog at the end of the game, put him just under Sephiroth for me.

Hell, i put him OVER Sephiroth. He was a breath of fresh air. Not the same "im evil" villians. But an actual person with different goals that stood in the players way.

I can't judge him because I have yet to play the game, but I'll definitely agree that hating on modern FF games seems to be the "in" thing to do. This is especially annoying because, at least half the time, the people bitching haven't even played the game.

Civil discussions about who you think is better are one thing, but when it turns into flamewars and downvote-fests, people need to just shut up, enjoy the art, and deal. People like characters, people hate characters. Shit happens.
