i can understand isaac having articunos, but why does kimblee have a gangar and a victini, shouldn't it be a pokemon that knows explosion and selfdestruct, like a geodude, voltorb, or a fortress

Gengar's are supposed to be very malicious IIRC, but I don't really get Victini either. Maybe something to do with his luck in the final chapters?

IIRC there are a lot of fan theories floating about that suggest Victini is a very subtle representation of an atomic bomb. And if that's the case it would definately match Kimblee.

Hm. According to the pokedex, "It creates an unlimited supply of energy inside its body, which it shares with those who touch it." Guess it could represent a philosophers stone for him, then.

Anon1, I believe it's meant to be a reference to the way Kimblee's alchemy works. On one hand, he has a transmutation circle with a symbol of the sun. His other hand possesses a moon symbol. By combining these contradictory symbols he can create energy imbalances and explosions.

So Victini and Gengar here are just references to the sun and the moon. Though, you'd think in that case the artist would have used those two Pokemon whose names I forget that are shaped like the sun and moon, respectively.
