This looks like something from the Sachisuke collection but I can't find this exact image. Can someone verify?

I always find it more.... erotic if nails are used.

PS: Correct me here but why do the other arts revolving around crucifision just tie their victims on ropes? Isnt hammering nails on someone's hand and feet the "correct" way to crucify someone? I just find ropes... boring.

@ Anon 1027128 - Technically you would nail someone through a small area in the wrists between the two lower arm bones (I want to say ulna and radius but not sure that is correct)and the wrist. There is a small area there that will support the weight of a human body. If you put a nail in the hands the weight of the body will just rip the nail through the hand. Also, the nails in the feet were put through the top of the foot at an angle so that it when through the heel bone causing more pain and to keep those crucified from bearing their weight on their feet.

I also have plenty to say about burning but I'm tired and hungry, so off I go to find foods.

Both nailing and ropes where used at various times in various places. For instance the gladiators who rebelled with Spartacus, who didn't die in battle where almost all crucified with ropes only. However we do find skeletons with nails in their wrists and ankles too.
I'm pretty sure the current theory is that nails where only used for the worst offenders, since of course metals where fairly valuable at the time.
