Still does, plus the added bonuses of increased Intimidation success.

Even if the Dragonplate stuff were better, just for looking like a sheer badass I'd stick to this. Same reason I stick to Glass rather than Dragonscale for Light Armor; it just plain looks better to me.

My favorite armor has always been the dwarven ones, even thought later in the game came better stuff.
The mechanical looks of dwemer stuff just looks right to me.
