SC's story is actually pretty coherent when compared to most other fighting games, which have a billion different things going on at once for every different character.

At least in the Soul Series, everyone more or less has a similar goal (to take or destroy Soul Edge).



The backstories and stuff are listed on the Soul Series website, although they're still pretty disappointing and not nearly as in-depth as the ones found in-game in 1-4 (not to mention how stupid it is that we actually have to go to a separate website for information that should've already been in the game).
