There are sketches that toriyama meant for SSJ3 to have a tail. And, since it wasn't colored, it would be golden, like the hair.

The saiyan evolution will never cease. SSJ 3 may seem like the final transformation (if you don't count SSJ 4 for creator reasons), but its an entire cosmos out there. The possibilities are endless.
