^ The idea behind drawing shapes as a base to build on is sound, though. I'm an artist myself and, while I don't draw things like peaches to lay out my anatomy, I DO draw circles, ovals, and other general shapes when laying out my figures. While this is a joke, it's sort of similar to the way I'd teach someone, albeit less detailed.
If I was going to teach someone (and I have), I'd have them approximate circles where the ass would go, smaller circles for the knee joints, and elongated ovals for the thighs (after mapping the entire pose first). Then I'd have them refine the shapes until it looks like a pair of human legs, not a collection of shapes.
