definitely, now if I could just learn that full-auto sniping technique they mention in the manga. The best/worst part about the army bringing them back into service is it makes them harder for civilians to get their hands on one...

They are not hard to get at all. The Army stuck most of their M14s in an arsenal and held on to them after Vietnam. The majority of civilian M14s are not military surplus, but new manufacture by Springfield Armory, called the M1A. The only reason they are expensive is because Springfield is one of the only games in town. Norinco, a Chinese company also makes M14s but is banned from selling in the US, but can sell them in Canada for ~$300.
