I think the joke is that if you become (Dark) Pit in Light VS. Dark, you're equipped with a random weapon. If it's a weapon you're good with, you can fight alongside your partners with higher HP, Attack, and Speed stats than the Fighters. If it's a weapon you're bad with, you're basically fucked and have to hide away where they can't get to you, kind of like a "princess/damsel-in-distress."

Meanwhile, the (Dark) Pit always gets the weapon you're great with.
