It isn't really that difficult to daisy-chain DisplayPort in such a way to get a large number of monitors on one system, like this: post #281339
One thing about DisplayPort is that it is treated as one head on your videocard, even if it powers multiple displays. Because of this, it's possible to have all of the displays connected be treated as one gigantic continuous display rather than several smaller ones.
Alternatively, it might be intended as a literal wallpaper. For your bedroom walls or something.
