The odd thing is that Rance isn't normally so ugly.

He'd get all of the girls anyway because of his... methods of getting them being a tad... different than your usual male lead.

Rances appearance was a tad more goofy at times in some of the earlier games. Probably why he looked like this when the original OVA's came out.
