Technically you're correct #2, technically and physically she's not alive "in the flesh". But she might appear inside your head. In your delusions, your dreams. And that can be very real sometimes. To a VERY satisfying effect.

Anakata who? :O besides I don't think Ayanami would express herself like that most likely she'd just go "staaaaare~" and considering the way Ayanami looks I'm guessing she'd much more prefer if someone pushed HIS retractable baton up HER rump.
