So neither soldier could shoot an arrow to pierce the spinal cord the moment she finished the attack? EL Oh EL. Good ol' modern anime, pointless and unnecessary special effects.

@anon 1
I'm guessing you've never known slow-motion in general, because that statement is completely redundantly useless, plus none of the soldiers doesn't seem to have any bow/arrows equipped. ಠ_ಠ

everyone has halberds, and considering all the soldiers close to one another that means they wont be able to wings at her very easily.

seeing as how she is surrounded and alone, she doesnt have to worry about hitting a friend.

halberds in close quarters with friendlies packed together doesn't work very well.

A naginata is the Japanese equivalent of a halberd.

The soldiers she's fighting have yari, a spear used (mostly) for stabbing rather than slashing. Very much a viable weapon to use in that situation without much risk of hitting your comrades.

I wouldn't say they're right but I wouldn't call them a weeaboo. That would imply they consider everything that's Japanese to be superior regardless of what it is, which they don't come off as seeming.

Anyways, a naginata is more like a sword on a long stick while a halberd is more like an axe and a spear that had a baby. They're both polearms, yes, but they're both rather different.

Naginata: A Japanese single-edged blade attatched to a polearm.
Glaive: An European single-edged blade attatched to a polearm.
Halberd: An European multi-edged weapon combining a spear, an axe, and a spike or hammer depending on country, attatched to a polearm.

Recognising that a naginata isn't a halberd doesn't make you a weaboo. It shows you know what you're talking about.
