So really, don't lie; SOMEBODY deletes comments for reasons only known to them. Maybe not you, but there's atleast one guy with that power that's doing it.

Jerl, I love you, but that's BULLSHIT. I've had comments deleted multiple times when not attacking any user. Fuck, I've had comments deleted when not mentioning anybody AT ALL.
So really, don't lie; SOMEBODY deletes comments for reasons only known to them. Maybe not you, but there's atleast one guy with that power that's doing it.

There ARE other reasons that comments are usually deleted, such as bragging about supposed sexual experiences, bragging about illegal activities or inciting other users to commit illegal activities, or comments with very little substance, such as ones that only say "dat ass".
If you want, please PM me some examples of types of comments that you have posted and which were removed, as well as the context that they were posted with. I'll be able to explain why they were deleted (or why they shouldn't have been).

Actually, the comments are left alone like this for a reason. The comment sections on images aren't just there for people who like that kind of image. They're there for everyone to post their unfiltered thoughts, whether it be praise to the artist, additional metainformation that doesn't fit in the tags, source, title, or translation notes, or complaints that they don't like the image.
While we'll remove actual arguments that break out over differences in opinion, but otherwise, generally we consider people voicing their opinions on images to be a good thing, regardless of what that opinion is.
This is true for all of the different posts on the site. People do not all have the same opinions on all of the types of art out there, or else there wouldn't be different types of art out there. Opinions vary wildly on all subjects. You can look at pretty much every type of image on the site and find some people who don't like that image and who choose to voice their disapproval.
Ultimately, Gelbooru's comment sections are not directly intended to provide a place for people with similar interests to come together. You are free to use them in that way if you choose, but please understand that there will people whose opinions clash with yours, and that their opinions are just as valid and just as valued on this site as yours are, and that these people WILL pop up and voice their opinion on whatever your are posting. This is just something that you have to accept when using Gelbooru, especially with something as niche as your interests. It just comes with the terrain of Gelbooru being a public imageboard.
