The next Metroid game should have Samus forced to eject from her ship with only the Zero suit, a gun, and maybe a few grenades. She has to survive the terrain, and find her first armor suit. As the game goes on, she has to hack into various equipment, and get access to other suits. Each suit has its own specialization, plus a couple option slots to move items from other suits around. Heck, if you manage to steal a Space Pirate armor, you can walk past them (until you open fire and start killing them).
At the end, she has managed to gather several different suits, and combined their abilities into a final suit of combat armor, which she uses to fight the big boss. Perhaps being able to eject components to improve performance would be useful (i.e. in the final escape you jettison weapon pods to move faster to the escape ship). In-game the cleaner robots will gather them up eventually, but at the end you don't have time.
You can even customize the final suit, so if you prefer using missiles, you have a larger stockpile, but couldn't take some of the extra weapons/power pods. Another person prefers jumping, so installed extra systems, but not as many weapons, etc. A third person takes all the missiles, all the weapons, all the defenses, and can barely move as a result.
You could even have small robots in the base that you can take over and tell them to gather power-ups from the local area. This way instead of having to hunt down the last item in a base, the robots will get it. The robot will take longer than if you did it yourself, but while the robot is busy gathering, you are doing other stuff.
Think survival/horror, but in power armor.
Of course, for fanservice/fanfiction, there are other personnel on base that have to be rescued. Having to fit another woman inside the suit with Samus means the suit will respond slower, but the mental images of the two of them rubbing together will be enjoyable.
It'd be a fun game, IMHO.
