Actually, with the word transmitter there it would signify a waveform. Not so much mathematical as it would be electrical. Meaning the length of a voltage in AC. It is a sine wave, with a full wave length.

If it starts at the top of the wave, then it is cosine. Sine starts in between two curves where the derivative is equal to 1. This is cosine.
