In this case, I'm pretty sure that "cliche" is actually just not having the budget for facial animation. I mean look at this, everybody's locked at "dull surprise".

But the hypercompetent 3edgy5u killer schtick is getting old, yeah. Real soldiers aren't fucking robots, they get angry or scared just like anybody else.
