Well I'm no expert, but I know both these manga are from the same guy, and both the protags here seem to have some daddy issues.
Guess it's a pretty weak joke.

I've watched both animes, but I don't get it.

Yusuke doesn't have a father to text. Ging probably doesn't carry a cellphone, and even if he did wouldn't give his number to Gon.

So, what the hell?

I am laughing so hard right now at how many people don't get Texts From Last Night.

Pretty fun game in all honesty.

Gon represents a guy sending out a text intended for his friends saying they should cancel the "Singles Saturday Slumber Party" and go to a bar. This is brought about because his father said that the Gon-guy is either lying about this singles sleepover thing, or that kids these days are lame.

The next panel is of a guy represented by Urameshi, replying that the Gon-guy's text was sent to the wrong number, but the idea of going to a bar instead of having a lame singles sleepover is probably a good idea.

The faces and characters represent the attitudes, reactions, ect of the two texters.

It was kind of confusing, but once I figured it out (and thought it was funny) I thought I'd offer this verbose explanation.

Gon probably meant to text Killua over their weird super-GPS phones (which for some odd reason looked like large beetles). Gon is often childish (though not immature or naive) so a slumber party sounds like something he'd do. And like something his socially inept father would make fun of.

And Yusuke would definitely encourage a night of drinking on the town if he accidentally received that text.
