-Suddenly makes Unohana -a woman who had barely fought at all despite SS having faced countles enemies- into an exremely strong fighter that takes up protagonism she never was hinted to have.

Seriously, Zaraki made sense...but its obvious Unohana's twist is just Kubo's desperate attempt to save his manga.

What are you talking about? It's been hinted through out the series that Unohana is one of the strongest fighters in Soul Society and someone none of the characters want to mess with.
