Apart from that: Poison is female in Japan. "He" is only male in the NA version of the games because publishers didn't like beating women.

Wrong. There is concept art from the game calling her a japanese translation of a "tranny" before the game was released in any region. This was always planned.

Poison is NewHalf as stated from the original game manuals and subsequent statements by Capcom. They made some confusing statements as to her gender based on region though, it's different in the USA from Japan. But this was drawn in Japan, by a Japanese, or it needs to be deleted. So it is newhalf.

These comments... trololol. I actually think Anon2 has it right. Originally in Japan, in the original Final Fight, it was intended to be a woman. Playtesters didn't like that the hero would hit a girl. Akira said, "Oh, then we'll just say they're transvestites." This did not appease them, so the international version was made replacing Roxy and Poison with Sid and Billy. This means that no, Poison was -not- intended to be a transgender anything, the playtesters didn't like it, so Akira suggested that they were, and I think the suggestion stuck. Today, Akira still will not confirm one way or the other. Later, for Street Fighter IV, Yoshinori Ono (note, this is not Akira, the original designer) has stated that, yes. Poison is transgender..... in the NA version she's post-op. In the Japanese version, she is actually a he and simply tucks it away.

So at the end of the day, I think everyone here is right. However, all of it stemmed from disgruntled playtesters.
