not a trap. Shuuichi is trans*, thus not male.

Transsexualism is by definition a mental condition. Genitals are irrelevant.

However, popular classification as "trap" relies on a confusion between apparent and actual genitalia, not the character's identity, so I'd say the trap tag is well-deserved here.

The "trap" wiki page needs to be edited to reflect this, too.

No it does not as the tag is not used for transsexualism. The tag is used for images that "trap" or fool a person into thinking the male is a female. A penis showing means that it gives away the gender and thus ends the "trap" illusion.

For this image, the trap tag applies as clearly the character outwardly looks female, but is actually male. Character "identity" for the purposes of the tag is irrelevant. Much like for loli or shota tags were character's age is irrelevant and is strictly body type.

Gelbooru considers trans people traps until they've gotten bottom surgery.

People are confusing a person's sex with their gender.

The difference between sex and gender is that a person's sex is physical, that is in most cases defined by a sex organ (penis or vagina). There are exceptions, but for the most part you are born with one of the two.

Gender is a social term that is usually determined by a person's sex, but also can be determined by behavior. There's also gender identity which is what gender a person feels they are.

The trap tag and what most people think of when they think of traps, is based on the former, that is, it is based on sex rather than gender. The very description, a boy that easily passes for a girl. When somebody sees the character or image unknowingly, the see a girl, and if another character sees them, they see a girl. But then it is revealed she has a penis, thus trapping the person/character.

For the trap tag to function correctly, it has to be based on sex rather than gender. If it was based on gender, the tag would be mostly empty since it's about guys that look like girls. I know of only one character off the top of my head that would stay, and that is hideyoshi because though he looks like a girl, he doesn't act like one nor does he want to be one, stating he is male anytime somebody mistakes him for a girl. But characters like Watarase Jun would get taken out because he clearly wants to be a girl and acts like one. I think it would be a very sad day if he got lost in all of the images here.

Anyway, none of this should matter on a site like Gelbooru. We all have our fetishes and tastes. Many people like seeing guys that look like girls. Whether those guys are male in their minds or female shouldn't make it any harder for said person to find those images. It certainly doesn't change the content in this pic if Shuuichi wants to be considered a boy or a girl, he/she's still just as cute in my mind.
