In the Rescue Gaara arc, Temari actually admires Naruto for changing people like Chiyo and his concerns for other jinchuurikis like Gaara who shared the same painful past. Even seeing Naruto cry for Gaara makes her open up even more even silently thanking him.
I wouldn't call it a cracked pairing.

Out of all the "pairings" in the Naruto Pairing War, I gotta say I like this one more than a majority of them. As Anon 5 says, Temari actually starts to admire Naruto and over the course of the series has probably one of the better relationships with him out of the female cast. . .which is kinda sad considering it's pretty much "Friend's cool sister" and "Brother's cool friend".
Naruto/Ino isn't bad either if you think about the reaction they had to see each other after the time-skip. Where Sakura couldn't suppress her anger at Naruto's compliment that unintentionally upset her and punched the ever-loving shit out of him, even though she hadn't seen him for three years, Ino does something different.
Ino and Naruto actually strike up a happy conversation and catch up a bit. I believe this was right after he first met Sai when he and Shikamaru fought him a bit before he retreated. After Sai fleas the scene Ino and Choji appear and you can hear them chatting in the background as Shikamaru tries to talk seriously with Choji. . .I think that's how it went anyways. Sure, it's more of a friend relationship but it's healthier than what he and Sakura have which can sometimes be considered abusive. I know he let's her and it doesn't really phase him but damnit, getting punched by someone with super strength on a regular basis usually means you're enemies. Their relationship is also more engaged than when Naruto and Hinata get together which is silence and smiling for the most part.
Hinata can barely talk or be alone with Naruto when their alone and out of battle, even now. It's sad but yeah, the only way I would picture Naruto and Sakura or Hinata lasting is if it was intentionally written that way, which it probably will be. Realistically, as far as I can take "Naruto" anyways, he'd have a better chance at having a long, healthy relationship with someone he can actually talk too without being occasionally punched or forced to do all the talking. That's just my opinion though.
I am a firm believer of Blondes having more fun, at least when it comes to this series and when they're together. I am also knee-deep in the Pairing War too apparently. . .

In deviantart there are pictures attempting to debase certain pairings.
Honestly, the only real issue with the pairings is that the author can't write women and romance for shit. An occasionally good story? Sure. Action? Why not? Romance, females? Hell no.

I actually like that Naruto is so controversial among fans. It makes more people try to "Fix it". What I mean is that so many people think certain things should have happened differently in Naruto that the Fanfiction community is absolutely gigantic
I agree with you that many people do not like the "Official Pairings", me being one of them. Some people really seem to like them though so maybe they aren't that bad.
I also agree that Kishi can't write romance, hell, so does Kishi. It's a good thing he tries his damndest to avoid romance and stick to the story-telling and action.
I happen to like the entire series so I would have to disagree with you that the series turned to shit after the Chunin Exams Arc.
Kishi isn't really sexist, he just can't write women which is something he actually admits. Having an all guy story is kinda gay though so he had add some women, you know? The women he did add seem to be pretty popular too.
I still Like Naruto, and I wouldn't invite getting voted down. I'm actually not as interested in down-voted comments seeing as people took their time to pretty much say "This comment isn't worth your time so we made some space." That might just be me but yeah, don't try to get down-voted dude, that won't help you.
Seriously though, if you're really boiling over "how bad" Naruto turned out to be then Fanfiction is your friend. For the most part it's going to be Gay Porn and stories with only a few hundred words, you're going to want to avoid those. It will also have a lot of NaruSaku and NaruHina which you will also want to avoid I guess. Lastly, bash stories are about one characters being treated like some sort of god while some other ones are shit by the Author, yeah, avoid those too. If you look for the gems in the rough then you should find some pretty damn good stories.
If you like the romance like I think you do then you might even want to check out my favorite Naruto fanfic, "From Ramen with Love" by Ryushi-the-DutchEroSennin. It's pretty old, so old that it was written back when we didn't know who a lot of the Aktsuki was yet. If you can get past that though then you'll have an amazing read on your hands.

Pairing conflicts are such an issue because people are naturally interested/obsessed with such relationships so the create their own fantasies and ideas and impose them on various subjects. Personally I like the dynamic implicated with NaruHina which apparently puts me on NaruHina, but I find him pairing with most of the girls interesting anyway. If we're being honest though, none of the pairings are likly to be 'official' simply because the isn't a manga intent on romance aside from using implications of it to build drama. Sakura's attachment to Sasuke, Hinata's feelings for Naruto that's about it as far as seriousness goes, we won't see anyone dating at the end of it. To much messy detail for Kishi to bother with.
