Donny quite literally has the potential to be the most powerful character in the game, stat-wise at least. I gave him a Brave sword with 1 use left, it never broke through the whole game and side stories, forced me to rename it into Infinity Edge.

he's easier to cap, that's about it. no more "potential" than any other 1st-gen, especially with his mediocre class choices. the extra luck is pants as well, much better to have had something else. by the time you even get him you should be able to manage crits (lunatic/+ here), and it amounts to maybe an extra 2% chance of armsthrift proc, which by the time armsthrift even becomes useful is completely unnoticable.

I honestly think anon8 makes some pretty good points. I'll most likely get flamed for this, but Donnel is easily and without a doubt in my mind one of the most overrated characters in Awakening. The vast majority of his skills are by and large filler, he gets NO offensive proc, only 3 total promoted classes, and thanks to his stat cap modifiers, most every other unit in the game will be better than him by the time they can catch up; Donnel just gets there faster, and that's literally it.
And yet in spite of all of this, there are people that believe he's the best character in the game, and based upon what he offers long-term, he's not. So what if he can clear maps on his own? That's not special in the grand scheme of things in context with the way the game was designed.
