All insect girls are monster girls.

If you don't want to find insect girls when you're looking for monster girls, you can blacklist "insect_girl". Likewise, you can also blacklist "q-bee" to blacklist just this specific character, and "touhou" to blacklist all Touhou characters.

Do not remove the "monster_girl" tag from images like this. Doing so is tag poisoning, and will result in a ban.

@Jerl

i just feel games characters should have no place in tags such as monster_girl or anything along those lines, it should just be the character name, if you put in the character name you'll find the character. Why hinder us that just want monster girls and not characters from a damn game?

The "monster_girl" tag is very general. Anything, anything, that can be considered to be a monster girl falls within its scope, whether the character belongs to a game or an anime or nothing.

Our tagging system is subtractive. Each individual tag is intended to contain a very wide range of images. This is because each tag only pertains to one aspect of an image. You then subtract out bits you don't want using other extremely general tags, until you have the very specific result you're looking for. This enables searching for everything from an extremely broad search of just monster girls, containing every possible monster girl, down to monster girls with green hair, small breasts, red eyes, twintails, etc.

On the other hand, let's look at this from the perspective of someone who wants to find Touhou-related images.
Someone who doesn't want any monster girls in their search.

If the monster_girl tag can't go on those images, this person is screwed. There is literally no way that they can perform this search without negating every character tag for a girl who is a monster girl. That is a lot of tags. This person would be forced to find and negate all of these character tags just to perform a relatively general search.

This is completely unacceptable.

We aren't going to make this person's very reasonable and quite general search a ridiculous pain just because you don't want to use your blacklist.

@Jerl

1. I would use it if i knew how to

2. What i'm getting at is i want monster girls, that is all i want i do not consider game characters monster girls unless the game itself has something to do with monster girls and if i remember Q bee is from a fighting game.

^ So basically, by your nonsensical definition, you're limiting yourself by subtracting things of a type that you enjoy, just because of where they come from. It's like saying "I like Chinese girls, but not if they're born in China."

By your definition, a completely monstrous half-spider woman isn't a monster if she happens to be in a videogame. What.

However, if you still want to be ridiculous, blacklist the tags of videogames as you run across monster girls from them. It's really easy to do.

Go to "My Account", then "Options" and the blacklist will hit you right in the face. Of course, this only works if you actually have an account.

Darkstalkers is a game whose characters who almost nothing but monsters with a few exceptions. Being it's a fighting name doesn't change this. It has Frankenstein's monster, a vampire, a werewolf, etc. Calling Felicia and Q-Bee not monsters girls because it's a fighting game is the silliest thing ever.

To correct the anon above, the blacklist feature is available to everyone, even if you don't have an account. It just won't be kept server-side, so you will need to set it for every computer you use, or copy the cookies from browser to browser.

why would the oppai loli tag be removed if gelboorus policies are as such?

It was determined that oppai loli was more suited for a pool than for a tag, due to it being very ambiguous. Tags must not be ambiguous at all, however as pools can simply be any collection of images with any sort of theme that you want (you can even make a personal pool to act as a second favorites list), pools fit the purpose much better.
