I guess I can try to be a nice guy and give an answer of relative possibility to that relatively non-imperative question.
As opposed to the pokemon going higher, did you think that it's possibly a trick being played by the camera as it trails the attack going from the pokemon to the designated target (normally always on the ground) thus making the pokemon look like its going higher into the air when it really isn't? On top of that, in this gif all we see is ...the pokemon and...the air -so there really isn't anyway to tell how high this pokemon actually is. Oh -and third, pokemon do take fall damage. Its just from moves like Jump Kick, Hi-Jump Kick, and Skydrop.
TLDR; They probably just make the pokemon look it's higher via dynamic camera angles -and pokemon do take fall damage. It's just not from random jumping.
