one of the most bullshit deaths...everything else that hits him melts or turns to fire..how is fire going to kill fire though...yeah we could get into science of back burning and what not...but this is an anime where people get powers from fruits...science doesn't factor in.

No, Ace wanted to stop Sakazuki from getting to Luffy, so he let his body be normal on purpose. If he let his body turn to fire then Saka would've gotten to Luffy instead.
Don't forget the haki factor, since Saka-san was an admiral at the time then he probably has strong haki which would allow him to harm logia powers such as Ace's.
