I've always gotten a certain "warmth" from looking at this picture. I'd say it's five main things that give it that feeling: Her visible breath, the steam and sparkles coming from her pee stream, the sweater she's got on, even how it looks like the lights are off. My theory is that this scene takes place during a particularly cold autumn or winter day where the heat in the school got turned off for whatever reason.
