So I guess you forgot we have several pokemon who were human before like Yamask who looks at the mask of its former human self and cries then evolves into something that murders tomb raiders with an ability that invokes a pokemon equivalent of a viral outbreak.

Hears a theory. A child dies in the woods and becomes a phantump, evolves into a trevanent gets lonely traps more kids in the woods who in turn dies and becomes phantumps. Thus increasing there population...
