Except pointing at "otakus" is a bullshit excuse. Hentai is a billion dollar/yen industry and thats whats OFFICIALLY reported. (Unlike the U.S., the adult/porno/prostitution laws in Japan are really poorly written and poorly enforced. Wanna know why censorship in hentai ranges between a thin black bar and a full-sized mosaic? Because no one knows where the legal line is and no one wants to go to court to find it.)
Throw in the usually historical/cultural background issues (U.S. has its Puritan background, Japan has its isolationist background) and what you see is what the culture believes how women should be treated.

Guys I may be wrong but I don't think this is social commentary. It's just porn. Japanese porn is just more story oriented than those overseas, and story telling, unlike in the US, isn't catering; it's just one event after another.

You watch too much porn and/or are detached from reality if you seriously believe that and suck at jokes if you were kidding. Sure men generally have more muscle mass than women but there is some overlap, and some women would sooner kick ass than be treated like property.
It's fantasy for jacking off, not reality. And the men didn't exactly do much better defending their kingdom either otherwise there'd be no porn. In hentai everyone loses otherwise it wouldn't be hentai.

The one thing I go to say is that perhaps the fact that this one is a little bit more passable, is that the women in this hentai are awful rulers that care nothing about their people and only want to obtain power. Reason why they wage war against eachother. The main rapist dude is actually the hero that brings peace to the land and "punishes" the baddies.
