Let's just admit..... Water has always been the most badass starter in every game.

They rip through most of the first 4 gym leaders, and in some cases all gym leaders with ease.

Hell...even if you replace them later in the game, they make awesome HM slaves too.

Blastoise, Feraligator, and Empoleon.

Best water starters.

I like how Greninja doesn't look intimidating as the others in this pic. But then again, he doesn't have to be intimidating cuz of how versatile he is.

I've always been more of a Grass guy, myself, but Water is usually my second pick, if not tied for my first. I mean, as neato as Samurott is, I can't deny that Serperior is just that bit cooler, you know?

I guess a big part of it is that the games are typically oversaturated with other water types. I mean, in R/B/Y, when you have access to great water types like Lapras, Starmie, and Vaporeon, suddenly Blastoise seems a slightly less tempting option compared to Charizard vs Ninetales, Magmar, Rapidash, Arcanine, and Flareon.

Still, though, water starters are typically awesome (although whoever heard I like mudkips heard wrong) and this is an amazing image.
