Oh, yes, THIS scene.
You know, I always wonder why animators think it's a good idea to spring this shit on the audience. Not just here, but also in Dragon Pink and Hell Knight Ingrid. Do they think that some of their watchers are secretly unaware that they're guro/extreme distension/scat fetishists and will in fact love it?
Maybe so, but it can't be higher than the number of viewers who were traumatized and ended up permanently resenting the series and animators.

One of its favorite tropes to mock: the use of hostages. How do you beat/kill an enemy thats using hostages as a shield? Easy, KILL THE HOSTAGE. (Obviously the main characters aren't killed, but everyone else was fair game.)
