I think what's going on here is Kanako thought the bouquet was for her, but Rinnosuke is actually doing the thing where you ask a girl's parents to let you marry her (in this case he's asking for Suwako's hand in marriage, which pisses Kanako off at the insinuation she's Suwako's mother.)
