So Charizard loses this fight right?
Please don't tell me anime-logic saves him from a Legendary Bird.

You mean as oppose to game logic where Charizard would still win because of type, level, the ability to get healed and have his attacks restored mid battle?

Level is based on varying play styles, healing and restoration is dependent on the Trainer. And Ice Beam would kill Charizard in one blow.

Im just referring to a one on one.

well I dont know what you mean with one on one though, but last time I looked Ice type got double damage from fire and did only half damage to it, I dont know if something has changed but if not Charizard would win. And if you mean the legendary status, then well legends are only legends until they become real Articuno is still a become that can burn and die ummm I mean 'faint'.
Im different Anon btw.

I don't see how the fuck Articuno would beat Charizard under any circumstances.

I haven't played Pokémon since Gen3 so things could've changed. But Im pretty sure I suffered a "Super Effective" from a ice beam once with my Charizard.

Articuno can be burned, but Charizard can be frozen solid. I just don't see a random Charizard being able to beat a Legendary Bird. Plus type isn't everything. Articuno has superior stats than Charizard. Charizards Sp.Def is especially low compared to Articuno Sp.Def and Sp.Atk. Meaning Articuno can not only take more fire damage from Charizard but critically wound him in less time.

Ah but you're forgetting the fact that Charizard is the faster of the two pokemon. When you're talking about maxed out special attack stats, Charizard actually gets *better* special attack than an Articuno, and can hit first. With special attacks being exchanged back and forth? Charizard would have the highest probability of winning the fight, especially with the movesets available to the two of them. It would likely only need two attacks to fell Articuno, so unless Articuno got a lucky frozen solid...

Then you also run into the possibility that Charizard can have moves like rock slide which would be 4x super effective, where as Articuno only gets access to ancient power for a 4x super effective move against Charizard. Under those conditions an Articuno would be better off using Blizzard or maybe even ice beam thanks to the same type attack bonus.

To answer the unasked question, yes a charizard takes supereffective damage from ice, because it is a flying type, and fire isn't resistant to ice.

That is true, I didn't think about Charizards speed. Its true that he would attack first. But what good can it do against a Sp.Def of 125? Even Charizards impressive Sp.Atk (which hes known for) is only at 105. And Charizards Sp.Def is 85 whereas Articunos Sp.Atk is 95. Even Articunos normal defense is at 100.

Charizard can indeed attack first but it would take a few hits to down Articuno whereas Articuno can blast Charizards low defense in one blow.
