Some proportion could be explained by the notion some artists seem to be taking that the suit is more of a small mech than an actual suit. That if she's six feet tall, the suit is ten or so.

The idea of a suit like that is that her feet are above the ankles of the suit and her hands are behind the suit's wrists. This improves the protection value because the suit's hands are all robot instead of thin metal gloves over her hands.
