Ryou may act arrogant but he actually respect his defeated opponet if they put everything they have in the fight (He even ask Megumi to taste her food afterward).
His foil Hayama however is condescending jerk who act nice but treat everyone lose to him like crap and seem to believe that the world revolve around him, his nose and a womanchild he confused between mother and lover.
