I had no idea they had such good boob physics back when this first came out.

@Anon1 it's not real-time, so it's pretty easy to have even back then. FF8 is from 98, and even FF7 cinematics had some the year before, even though it didn't look as good, but that's partly because of the style, and maybe partly because of the artists' experience, not necessarily the technology.

FF8's graphics were a HUGE leap up from FF7, and it's even more impressive when you consider that they were only two years apart. (And on that note, I miss the days when we didn't have to wait a literal decade for a new Final Fantasy.)

As someone who does 3D as a semi-hobby, you ever notice how models that are extracted are all kind of rigid looking? That's normally how 3D models are. What gives them the soft jiggle physics is the weight mapping in the environment/engine program for animations.

Hair is similar but kind of tricky. Tentacles are a right pain to use, move, and pose in 3D applications. Plus with all these you gotta do collision detection, morphs and animations if you want it to interact with objects/walls/floors like hair (or anything else) normally would. Tentacles...ugh. I won't get into that--suffice it to say 2D has it much simpler.
