For this interested...this particular Panzer II seems to be something of an oddball.

From what I can dig up, this hull is somewhere along the lines of a recon specialized model, which might explain what the gap in the fender is for---where the marking is, on the visible side---as well as the other feature, there. There is likely an identical feature on the opposite side of the vehicle. At this point, I can only suspect that it is some sort of hatch, for increasing the crew's visibility. Pop it open, and look out the side... Might be big enough for someone to squeeze in and out through... Turret is also suspiciously small, maybe back down to twin MGs rather than housing a light automatic cannon...

It's a Panzer II Ausf. J although the turret is totally wrong.

Even more digging uncovers what seems to be the truth!

This machine seems to be a Panzer I ausf. F, rather than the previously mentioned II J! The differences between the two vehicles are somewhat minor, but include details of the fenders, the presence of only a single viewport in the front, as well as the most telling feature, the smaller, twin-MG turret...!

To be honest. This is a VK 1801 (VK=Versuchskonstruktion/testing construction) It´s an heavier armored version of the Pzkpfw I Ausf. F . It was build by "Krauss-Maffei" in a serie of 30 Tanks, production was from 1939 till 1942.
