Well, the Yamis are supposed to represent the 'dark side' of their host (hence the name). Or at least in theory they are, Marik's the only one that actually fits that catagory (Yugi's is a 5000 year old egyptian pharoh and Bakura's is his (the pharoh's) mortal nemesis)
