My guess : she was "handled, disciplined AND owned hard" - and is now insanely furious, but inevitably subdued and "defeated" : and is now simply and solely there in the Cell, with her Face still red from raging Anger : maybe stressed not to break out into screaming and crying over being "pwned" so harshly, trying to protect what little Pride she hast left inside.
'cause HOW old was Asuka supposed to be? Fourteen? Sixteen, later? And THAT - is clearly Overkill, what they* did to her, in this Picture. x'D But oh well, i dont mind ... ... ...
Seeing a cocky Brat getting handled without any mercy, for a change - why not?

My guess : she was "handled, disciplined AND owned hard" - and is now insanely furious, but inevitably subdued and "defeated" : and is now simply and solely there in the Cell, with her Face still red from raging Anger : maybe stressed not to break out into screaming and crying over being "pwned" so harshly, trying to protect what little Pride she hast left inside.

( For Info: "Beyond scared straight" is a (gay&stupid) US TV Show, in where they put Teenagers into Prison to intimidate them and break their Will when these Teenagers have a very defiant (and/or criminal) Behaviour, that could let them to become official Criminals later in their Life and lead them into Prison. )
( The "Inmates" of Prisons are also used to scare and intimidate them, which makes the Show even more 'Pedophile' and disgusting: but hey - US-Americans ... ... it's "their" Children. Let them torture them. ;-) ... ... )
( In the Show, many kinds of light Torture are used. From intimidating them with the (incredible) ugly Faces of fat Police/Prison Officials barking into their Faces,
up to even strapping them down into kinky looking Bondage-Chairs to restrain (humiliate?) them and leaving them their in a hope that they surrender their Resistance. )
" This Picture " here reminds me very much of this TV Show. Well,
they 'need' Asuka, right? As a Pilot. And Pilots have to be obedient Underlings. And if they would fail, the "Angels" of Evangelion would destroy the whole Mankind, right?
So if it helps - sure, why not? If it makes her obedient - break her, from time to time.
