I agree. The visual quality difference compared to gifs, the much better compression and the ability to have sound would be a huge plus

This .gif is alright really, but that would be awesome anons.
It helps if you know what you're doing when you make a .gif (though that only goes so far), but i'm getting tired of seeing buggy 30 or 40+ mb .gifs that take forever to load, IF they load.
It's becoming a problem all over the internet.

it wouldn't be such a problem if the standard bodies and browser vendors didn't "see the need for gifs in 21st century internet". There is animated PNG that gives much better compression but is unsupported by browsers.

The file sizes for png's are still pretty big though.

Webms seem to be getting a whole lot of attraction too. Considering this 'game' will also have sound, which webms support, that'd be an amazing choice to support on this site.

Does anybody know the name of the game?

Webms are overrated. Not everything needs sound; sometimes the image alone is fine. I'd take a soundless GIF over a webm with sound anyday, especially considering for ones like this you'd need mute on all the time. Webms are also not nearly that much better than a GIF as you all imply.

Fuck webm, GIFs are still good and are here to stay. Downvote all you want; it won't make it any less true.

Gifs have ugly compression. Get out of the stoneages of computers, man.

Animated PNG should be the new standard. The internets only going to get faster and harddrives and servers are only going to get bigger and better, so why stick to old things that make things look ugly when new things do what the old things could do but way better?
