Well, according to the Prime games (non-canon, I know) while in Morphball mode she becomes pure energy, so I guess that's more comfortable?

^The Prime games are canon. Sakamoto even stated that despite not being mainline, they're canon side stories in the Metroid Universe.

Actually edgetekker Other M is canon, it takes place right after super metroid. If we go with timeline it would be metroid, metroid 2, super metroid, Other M and metroid fusion, also metroid and metroid 2 i think? would be metroid zero mission not sure on that. But yes fusion is the latest in the timeline as the suit has not appeared thus far and her chozo power suit was destroyed. The prime series would be like before all the others since phazon is no where in the other games.
