I believe the story is that Mario is feeling worn out 'cause he's been made to exercise a lot by Wii Fit Trainer.

However, when he gets back home, he finds her having cake with Peach. Considering she's probably been giving him a hard time over eating sweet things, it's a turn of the tables that he finds her eating sweet things herself!
